Hello : )
Hi! Welcome to your semester-long on-campus Game Design internship. If you’re doing your internship, that means you’re serious about working toward your degree and on track to finishing up here at Moorpark College. Congratulations! That’s a huge step and you should be extremely proud of yourself!
If this is the last course you need to complete the requirements for your A.S., make sure to stop by the counseling office (located in Fountain Hall) to put in your paperwork for your degree; there is no system in place to ensure that you receive it automatically once you’ve finished all required classes. The process is easy and should take no more than ten to fifteen minutes of meeting with a counselor. You can even use drop-in counseling to do so.
The purpose of this tutorial is to walk you through what will constitute a large portion of your responsibilities and duties as an on-campus Game Design intern. Keep in mind that these instructions were written in the Fall semester of 2017, during the very first wave of Game Design internships, so they may need to be updated to reflect any changes. That will be part of your job! This section of the program website is devoted to making your internship as smooth as possible. If you have anything you’d like to add, feel free.
The Intern Info section of this site is composed of the following parts:
This is an overview of the requirements for your internship, set forth by Moorpark College. Be sure you’re keeping track of your deadlines and forms.
Getting Started outlines any preparatory work you will need to do before diving into your duties, as well as an overview of programs you’ll be using and materials you will need.
This section describes how you will be affecting mcgamedesign.com (refered to as the program site). It focuses mainly on how you will be contributing to the gallery, where student work is showcased.
The Student Games secton of this site is the meatiest, as it walks you through the process of playing, organising, and preparing games for upload to itch.io and the program site gallery.
This page offers information for uploading individual games to the Moorpark College itch.io account where visitors can go to download and play the student games made during the course of the program.
On this page, you will find a sample storyboard and some suggestions for putting together a trailer of game play footage to promote the Moorpark College Game Design program.
Here you will find a list of activities not yet completed that has been left for you by the last crop of interns. This is a good place to dig in for your internship. Go over the list with your work site supervisor, as they will have more insight as to what they would like to see from you.0
